SKETCHES FROM THE PAST

75 years back, when the Union was formed in 1951, the expectation of the members was very simple and plain. Their demands were security of service and then a living wage. The very first circular released by our Union proclaimed that “once an employee is assured of his “security”, “The sense of belonging which has been advocated by the Bank will automatically become  his proud privilege which cannot be accomplished by sermons or essays.” While marching towards milestone of the 75 years of our Great Organization CBEU, It is quite appropriate that we remember, the comrades who gave their all for founding and nurturing the organization. There were very many occasions when employees were sent out for silly “reasons” like even for taking 3 days’ leave. The entire workforce had to rally round and fight the attack of the management foisted on an employee for this reason. These are things of the past. However it is in our hands that we should not allow it to repeat again. Gone are the days when job security was at stake. Today the service condition and security of job are stable. We have to preserve this by holding the unity among the employees. Since our founding, we have gone through the process of 75 long years and 26 magnificent conferences. It is a worthwhile experience for us to recall the proud memories of the past We give the list of Office bearers of our Union of the past Conferences for which records are available with us. This would rekindle our memory and give a peep into the glorious past that really belongs to us.
